A meeting with pianist-composer Jean-Marie Machado and saxophone player Dave Liebman resulted in the production of a performance of jazz music titled “Media Luz”. Together with sculptor and stage designer Francis Guerrier, as part of the “Constellations” project, the artists created a beautiful, dreamy performance during which the audience could admire an unusual ballet of light installations that poetically reflected “musical constellations” of works written by French composers. Psophos Quartet is the first French quartet to qualify into the prestigious “New Generation Artists” programme of BBC Radio. They were also nominated for the Victoires de la Musique award in 2005. The Quartet released many albums, all of which received critcis’ awards, including the “Choc” from Monde de la musique and “Diapason 5” from Diapason for their album of string quartets by Maurice Ohana. The album “Constellations”, released on the Klarthe label, was also enthusiastically received by critics. An album containing the complete string quartets and quintets by Mendelssohn is scheduled for release in 2019. Psophos Quartet was hailed by Times magazine as one of the best ensembles in Europe and is undoubtedly a musical phenomenon on a European scale.
