After graduating from the conservatory in Quebec, Olivier Fortin continued his education through numerous scholarships, thanks to which he has had the opportunity to study in Paris with Pierre Hantaï and in Amsterdam with Bob van Asperen. Fortin is a laureate of the J.S. Bach International Competition in Montreal and 2nd prize winner at the International Early Music Festival in Brugge. He is a highly-regarded soloist and chamber musician. Together with Ensemble Masques, of which he is the founder and artistic director, and with Capriccio Stravagante and Tafelmusik he has performed in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and in Canada. He has also appeared with harpsichordists Skip Sempé and Pierre Hantaï, presenting programmes of music for two and three harpsichords. From 2004 to 2008 Olivier Fortin taught harpsichord and chamber music in the Quebec Conservatory. Each summer he also teaches at the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto.
